Lord, help us to implement discipline

Today's Devotion, Lord, help us to implement discipline. I recently saw on one of my friend's status a picture of a cute puppy. This puppy was so adorable that I asked her if she could send me a picture of it.

As soon as I received the image, these words came to me, pet him today, beware of him tomorrow. Whatever puppies see the older dogs do, they will do it. Running behind cars or people, passing on bicycle or walking by and barking is something that they will do.

If you allow a puppy to have their own way, they can be very destructive by biting or tearing to pieces the things that you value. If you do not instill discipline, you will never be able to control them and they may start biting up your furniture or shoes and start biting people. The cute puppy that you pet today may be a dangerous dog tomorrow that can have financial consequences.

I remember seeing a man walking with a pit bull and the dog didn't have a leash. There were four dogs running behind them and barking as the pit bull was about to attack them. The man said, leave them alone and the pit bull turned away and continued on his journey.

The man turned to me and said, if I didn't tell him to leave them alone, he would tear them all to pieces. My brothers and sisters in Christ, a cute child today may be a dangerous person tomorrow if you do not implement discipline at an early age. In Deuteronomy 8 verse 5 to 6 it is written, know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you.

So you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and by fearing him. And in 2 Samuel 7 verse 14 it is written, I will be to him a father and he shall be to me a son. When he commits iniquity, I will discipline him with the rod of men, with the stripes of the sons of men.

Heavenly Father, I pray for the parents that are too busy working to make two ends meet, that they didn't find time to see the importance to discipline their children and know they are dealing with the consequences of their negligence. In Proverbs 29 verse 19 it is written, by mere words a servant is not disciplined, for though he understands, he will not respond. Lord, put godly mentors into their lives and remove all the bad influences from their lives so that they will not continue going in the wrong direction.

Lord, take full control and remove their ungodly behavior and give us wisdom to remove all the privileges that are leading them astray.

All these we ask in Jesus name. Amen.
