Today's Devotion, Beware of the Five D's. Beware of the five D's that can take you away from God. They are doubt, distraction, division, discouragement, and depression. The devil has a way of using all of these to his advantage.

Doubt stops effort and it can also change your mind by reducing your level of faith and creating fear. In James 1 verse 5 to 6 it is written If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

If the devil was bold enough to try and distract Jesus, he certainly won't leave us alone. Distraction can lead to temptation. In Matthew 4 verse 8 to 9 it is written Again the devil took him upon an exceedingly high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.

And he said to him, All these things I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me. Even though Jesus did not do it, the devil will use desperation as a form of distraction. My brothers and sisters in Christ, the tongue can join people together and it can also create division.

In Luke 11 verse 23 it is written Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. Once there is trouble in the church, the devil is happy. But when there is unity in the church, the devil is angry.

Heavenly Father, the devil will use discouragement and depression for us to lose focus. Help us not to yield to temptation. In Psalm 73 verse 26 it is written My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Lord, we know that temptation comes in many ways. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight. Lord, we thank you for giving us strength in our times of weakness so that we do not give in to the plans of the devil.

In Psalm 34 verse 17 to 18 it is written When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Merciful Father, we thank you for never leaving us nor forsaking us.

And we thank you for giving us the strength to overcome the plots and plans of the devil.

All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
