Lord, help us to live a life of humility

Today's Devotion, Lord, help us to live a life of humility. He who knows the strength that comes from humility will never have to deal with the embarrassment that comes from pride. Pride goes before a fall but humility leads to honor.

Humility sees the importance of living in peace but pride is blind to the consequences of unforgiveness. Peace with others opens us up to God's blessings in unexpected ways. God's timing may test us but His promises never fail.

I remember on several occasions God waking me up and telling me to do things that I was reluctant to do and every situation came with a confirmation that I should be obedient to do what I was told. I eventually realized that little by little the pride that was hidden inside me was removed. The Lord moves in mysterious ways and this was His way of removing the hidden pride that I did not realize was hindering my blessing.

Goliath was full of pride but David was full of confidence in God. David teaches us that with God no giant is too big to defeat. Even though Job lost everything, Job teaches us that your trials may be great but God's faithfulness is greater.

My brothers and sisters in Christ do not allow your pride to make decisions for you because pride is concerned with who is right but humility is concerned with what is right. In Proverbs 11 verse 1 to 3 it is written, The Lord detests dishonest scales but accurate ways find favor with Him. When pride comes then comes disgrace but with humility comes wisdom.

The integrity of the upright guides them but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. Heavenly Father, open our spiritual eyes so that we can see that pride is destructive. It has a way of letting us act as if we are better than others.

We came into this world with nothing and we will all leave with nothing. Lord teach us to embrace humility because it can give us things that pride is preventing us from getting. Teach us to walk in the footsteps of Jesus who humbled himself even to the point of death on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins.

Lord remove arrogance, selfish ambition, unforgiveness and everything that comes from being full of pride and let humility be the way of our lifestyle.

All these we ask in Jesus name. Amen.
