Resist Temptation

Today's Devotion, Resist Temptation. Lord, help me to guard my troubled soul by exercising self-control. The devil is trying his very best to deceive me by showing me joy in sinfulness. Every moment of resistance to temptation is a victory, and every moment we give in to temptation has its consequences.

Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Father God, help us to walk away from arguments that are not pleasing to you, and also help us to stay away from people who are good at getting out the bad side of us.

Lord, even though we have promised to walk in the path of righteousness, many times we have disappointed you because of our spiritual weakness. We should never underestimate the determination of the devil, because once he sees that you have greatness in you, he will be more persistent in trying to destroy you. Lord, help us to pray our way out of temptation instead of being a partaker in it.

In Psalm 27 verse 9 it is written, Hide not thy face far from me, Put not thine servant away in anger, Though hast been my help, Leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. The devil knows your name, but he calls you by your sin. But God knows your sin, but he calls you by your name.

Lord, let us be consistent by praying when temptation comes. It is easier to prepare and prevent than to repair and repent. Heavenly Father, when we fall into temptation, we beg you not to leave us, but instead to strengthen us, so that we do not repeat our mistakes.

All these we ask in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
