Today's Devotion, Control Your Anger. Anger can destroy relationships, friendships, and families. When anger comes with pride, it can open the door to unforgiveness and malice. The devil endorses anger because it can lead to destroying and killing.
I remember seeing a video of a female using a piece of metal to destroy her partner's car. Because she found out that he was involved with someone else. Never allow anyone to ignite the flame to start your anger, especially when they are encouraging you to do the wrong thing.
Always remember that you will be the one who is dealing with the consequences, not them. The devil doesn't want you to live in peace, he wants you to live in war. In 1 Peter 5 verse 8 it is written, Be alert and of sober mind.
Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. My brothers and sisters in Christ, we cannot claim to be a child of God if our words are full of expletives because cursing is a sin. In Ephesians 4 verse 29 it is written, Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
And in Matthew 15 verse 11 it is written, Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man, but that which cometh out of the mouth. This defileth a man. The things that anger pulls out of us may be hard to control, but we should do our best in order to control it.
In James 1 verse 19 to 20 it is written, You must understand this, my beloved. Let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger, for your anger does not produce God's righteousness. Heavenly Father, we seek your guidance to help us to control our anger.
You said in your word, a fool gives full vent to anger, but the wise quietly holds it back. Lord, we come to you asking for self-control when anger is trying to take control of us. Remind us that anger can kill and destroy, and it does not accomplish your righteousness.
Let your gentle whisper quiet our emotions, so that we are not led to do the things that are not pleasing to you.
All these we ask in Jesus name. Amen.
