Today's Devotion, Our protection sometimes comes from our separation. The Lord works in mysterious ways and in order for us to trust him we must believe in why he does things, when he does things, and how he does things. In Romans 11 verse 33 it is written, O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and how unscrutable his ways! God will separate you before he elevates you.
Abraham was told by God to leave his country, his people, and his father's household to go to a new land. Joseph was separated from his family even though he was betrayed, and his familiar surroundings before being elevated to the palace in Egypt. My brothers and sisters in Christ, if you feel as if God is separating you from certain people, it is his way of elevating you to be around the right people.
Not everyone who comes into your life was sent by God. Some people were distractions, some were spiritual delays, and some came around you to benefit from your kindness. God didn't remove you to punish you, and many times we may end up being depressed because of our situation.
God saw what you couldn't see, and he heard conversations that you didn't hear. In Genesis 50 verse 20 it is written, As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive as they are today. Do not be fooled by the tears that they shed to soften your heart, and never try to repair relationships that God has destroyed.
In Proverbs 14 verse 12 it is written, This is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. Heavenly Father, we know that we should love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us, that we may be children of our Father in heaven. Lord, open our spiritual eyes so that we know those who we should love from a distance because of their evil intentions.
Lord, we thank you for your guidance and protection when we come before you seeking the quiet safety of your shelter. Set a hedge of protection around our mind and heart so that we know that separation is not a punishment, it is for our protection.
All these we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
